      Frequently asked questions

Quick answers about supported formats, pricing, and privacy.

Is UniReader a good FB2 reader for Mac?

Yes. UniReader opens FB2 (FictionBook) files natively on macOS with reading themes, adjustable typography, bookmarks, and annotations, so it works as both an FB2 reader and FB2 viewer.

Which document and eBook formats does UniReader open?

UniReader reads PDF, EPUB, DjVu, FB2, MOBI, AZW3, CHM, CBZ and CBR comic books, DOC, DOCX, RTF, TXT and LIT — 14 formats in one native Mac app.

Can UniReader read CBZ and CBR comic books?

Yes. UniReader is a comic book reader for Mac that opens CBZ and CBR archives with page navigation, zoom, full-screen reading, and printing.

      Is UniReader free?

UniReader is free to read DRM-free PDF and EPUB on one library source. An optional Premium in-app purchase (monthly, yearly, or lifetime) unlocks all formats — including DjVu, FB2, MOBI, CHM, and CBZ/CBR comics — plus multiple sources, annotations, and print.

Does UniReader track me or require an account?

No. UniReader has no ads, no analytics SDKs, and no account requirement. Your documents and reading history stay on your Mac.

Can UniReader summarize or explain a PDF with AI?

Yes. Open the AI panel beside the document and ask about the page you are reading: summarize it, explain a passage, define terms, translate it. Highlight a passage first and the question targets that passage. You connect your own account — OpenRouter in one click, or a key for OpenAI, Anthropic, DeepSeek, or a local Ollama.

Does the AI send my documents anywhere?

Only what you choose, and only after you confirm. UniReader shows the page text or image that will leave your Mac and waits for your approval. Your key stays in the macOS Keychain and the request goes straight to the provider you picked — UniReader never receives a copy. The built-in web chat browser sends nothing from your document at all.

Your documents. Your device. Your privacy.

Free PDF and EPUB on one library source. Optional Premium unlocks every format, multiple sources, annotations, and advanced tools. Your files stay on your Mac.
