UniReader is built for people who want a powerful reader without handing their library or habits to advertisers or data brokers. We keep the model simple: the app works for you on your Mac, not the other way around.
The app on your Mac
- Your documents stay on your device. We don’t upload your books or reading history to our servers.
- No login required to read your own files—open UniReader and add what you want from the Finder or import tools you already use.
- No ad trackers or analytics SDKs inside the app. We don’t profile you or sell attention.
- If you store books in iCloud Drive or another synced folder, Apple (or that provider) handles file sync under your account—UniReader reads files on disk and does not upload a separate copy to our servers.
UniReader on iPad and iPhone
UniReader on iPad and iPhone can optionally sync reading metadata (progress, highlights, notes) through Apple’s iCloud / CloudKit when you enable that feature. That processing is tied to your Apple ID and Apple’s terms; we do not operate a parallel server copy of your library for that sync.
UniReader for Mac is designed as a local-first reader: you stay in control of your files, highlights, and notes on your Mac.
This website
When you browse this marketing site, we may record aggregate visit counts with a first-party counter on our own server (the same kind of simple hit counter many small sites use). That helps us understand interest in the product—without third-party ad networks, social pixels, or cross-site tracking cookies.
The marketing site does not need an account. Standard web logs from our host may still exist (for example IP, timestamp, URL) for security and operations; we don’t use that to build personal marketing profiles.
What this page is. It is the full privacy notice for UniReader on the web and a clear statement of how we treat your data in the Mac app, in everyday language. There is no separate “other” policy to open behind this one.
